Sims 4 is an interesting role-playing game that has a huge worldwide following. Players get to use their imagination to survive and thrive in a virtual world.
A recent bug has made it impossible for the Manage Households screen to close when playing the game. There are a few reasons behind it, which we shall discuss in this article. If you are facing the issue, we’ll explain the troubleshooting tips you can use to unfreeze the Manage Household screen.
How to unfreeze the Manage Household mod
Before I share some of the steps I used to fix this issue, it is worth noting that you may lose your game’s progress. But that is almost inevitable since the error doesn’t go away on its own, even if you choose to wait over it.
In my case, the bug came about after these steps:
- Move the household from the ‘other households’ tab to another lot.
- Next, load the transferred household to assign their beds.
- Head back to manage worlds.
- As you put the household back into the “other households” folder, that is when the manage household screen fails to close. At that point, the only solution is to save the game and then restart it.
You may have arrived at the scenario differently, but the solutions are similar.
First, make sure to restart your device. This is the simplest but also one of the most effective troubleshooting steps. If the problem doesn’t go away, proceed to the steps below:
1. Clear the MAC Address on Xbox
Clearing the MAC address sometimes helped fix the issue for Xbox users. Just follow these steps:
- Press the Guide button on your Xbox controller.
- Go to Settings under Xbox Guide.
- Select Network Settings, then go to Advanced.
- Select Change Settings, just under Alternate MAC address, then select Clear.
At this point, you have to restart your Xbox to save the current settings.
2. Clear your Xbox’s cache
To clear your Xbox’s cache:
- Find your Xbox’s power button, then press and hold until your Xbox turns off.
- Unplug your Xbox console’s power cord from the socket. Wait for about 1 minute.
- Reconnect the power cord to the socket and wait for another minute.
- Switch your Xbox back on.
You’ve now cleared your Xbox’s cache. Relaunch SIMS 4 to see if you can now save progress without the Manage Households screen crashing.
3. Repair Sims 4
You can repair Sims 4 manually to fix badly configured and corrupted files that prevent the game from running properly and even failing to load the screen.
Below are steps on how to go about it:
- Open Origin and right-click on The Sims 4 in the My Games option.
- Select Game Repair.
- Move the Saves, Tray, Mods, Screenshots, Custom Music folders, and the Options.ini file to your desktop, and then delete the Scratch subfolder inside Saves.
- Delete the rest of the Sims 4 folder from your Documents and the Electronic Arts folder.
- Start the game afresh, and exit the game.
- You’ll see the new Documents in the Electronic Arts and The Sims 4 folder.
- Copy all the folders and the file back and start the game again.
