You’ve connected your PS5, but it is not showing on TV. Instead, you are getting a blank screen. The PS5 and TV are on, but nothing seems to work? If you face this problem, there are a couple of solutions that you can try out.
The most common reason why your PS5 won’t show on TV is because of a faulty HDMI cable or port. But other issues may be causing the problem.
Reasons why your PS5 is not working
These are the probable reasons your PS5 is not showing on TV and detailed explanations of how you can fix them.
1. The HDMI cable is not connected
A disconnected HDMI cable is the main reason why your PS5 won’t turn on. Ensure that you connect the PS5 to your TV and secure its connection. If not, try reconnecting it to the television’s port and turn on the console.

2. Check the HDMI cable
Another reason why your PS5 is not showing on TV is because the HDMI is not working on PS5. It will prevent your PlayStation from displaying on the TV. For a faster and smoother gaming experience, the HDMI cable should be 2.1.
You can check whether it is functioning properly by connecting it to other devices such as a laptop. If you notice any breaks, cuts, or wires fraying outside the cable, it is damaged and requires replacement.
3. Wrong channel input
You may have set the TV to the wrong channel input. You, therefore, must check that it is set to the right channel that displays the PS5 console input.
4. No signal on the PS5
Your PS5 is not working because it has no signal caused by a poor internet connection or a damaged cable. If it is experiencing signal issues, you should reconnect it to refresh the network connection.
Follow these steps:
- Press and hold the Power button on the PS5 console for about 10 seconds until it completely turns off.
- Unplug it from the mains power supply for a few minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on by pressing and holding the Power button until the PlayStation logo displays on the screen.
- While you do this, restart your Wi-Fi router to ensure that the internet connection is working and at full speed.
5. Wrong TV resolution
When the TV’s resolution setting is wrong, the TV will not display the PlayStation. You can solve this by choosing the right picture setting to work with the PS5. The Deep Color Output setting is the best resolution for your PlayStation display.
You can adjust the TV’s resolution setting by doing the following:
- Go to Settings.
- Go to Video Output.
- Choose the ‘Deep Color Output’ option.
- If the setting was Automatic, change it to Off and vice versa.
6. PS5 firmware error
The PlayStation may be experiencing a software issue and it is interfering with the console displaying on your screen. There are two reasons for this, one of them being that the software is outdated. Another reason is that the console is attacked with corrupted files.
The console may also be experiencing glitches and bugs that disrupt its normal gaming functioning. The firmware, therefore, requires to be updated. You can check if there is a new firmware update in the Settings menu.
7. HDR settings
The PlayStation 5 console may not configure with the TV’s HDR setting. Disabling it may fix the problem by doing the following:
- Go to the console’s Settings menu.
- Select Screen and Video.
- Select Video Output.
- Scroll through the menu to select HDR and then turn it off.
If you are still experiencing issues with your PlayStation 5, it means that the console or the television is damaged. You should contact PlayStation Support and explain the problem.
